This flashy and gorgeous wine is characterized by sharp spiciness, plush fruit, and soul-satisfying earthiness. A tougher growing season that produced long warm to hot days and cool evenings brought this Syrah harvest to a close in early October.
We continued our long standing relationship with the acclaimed Unti Vineyard in Sonoma County. Unti Vineyards is located in the heart of the Dry Creek Valley right outside the town of Healdsburg. The Unti’s are well-known for their uncompromised farming practices especially on Rhone varietals. Since the beginning of our program, we have worked very closely with the Unti’s to dial in the optimal farming practices for our vineyard blocks. In 2006, we harvested from the same vineyard block strategy as in previous years bringing in fruit for two distinct blocks near the front of the vineyard away from Dry Creek which runs a long the vineyard’s backside. These two blocks are comprised of shorter rows and hence, more even ripeness throughout.
